We are pleased to release our first school newsletter of the year, now that we have the clerical staff to support its creation!  We look forward to sharing a newsletter at the beginning of each month going forward :)  Families should have received a copy in their email, however you should also be able to view the newsletter by viewing the link below!

Ms. MacInnis’ classroom community from Salmo Elementary School has won the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Awareness Society’s writing competition! The grade 1-3 class won $321 dollars for their efforts to build upon their understandings of Down syndrome.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced the election by acclamation of a new chair and vice-chair of the Board of Education at the inaugural board meeting held in Nelson, B.C., on November 14. School Trustee Dawn Lang was elected uncontested as the new chair, moving into the role after serving one year as vice-chair.

Mr. Caulford's Grade 4/5 class has been working on an activity based on "WANTED!

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced today that Principal Misty Terpstra will transfer from Nelson Wildflower School to Salmo Elementary School to serve as the new school principal.

Principal Terpstra will assume the school leadership role from Principal Dawn Snell whose move to South Nelson Elementary school was announced in May.

Principal Transfers

Principal Dawn Snell will transfer from Salmo Elementary to South Nelson Elementary.
