A bridge to learning for Salmo students!
The new Salmo Elementary School bridge is home!
Students and staff had initially planned to install the bridge inside the school to be part of our Robin Hood Readathon, but after careful consideration staff determined that it would be safer to install the bridge outdoors instead. So, the wooden structure was stored at Salmo Senior Secondary for the winter.
The bridge project led to some great hands-on learning when a group of students volunteered to sand and stain it and SD8 Operations staff agreed to transport the bridge back to Salmo Elementary to be set up in the playground this spring, where it is now!
Thanks to Wally Huser for the lumber and to Don St. Arsenault for building the bridge and to the school district maintenance crew for transporting the bridge back home to Salmo Elementary.
The new bridge is loved and appreciated by all!
