Students Celebrate Earth Day!

Salmo Elementary School intermediate students participated in a unique Earth Day challenge! After weeks of learning about garbage and the effects on the environment, students were challenged to create a functional item from recyclable items. “Trash to Treasure” projects were quickly envisioned and created. Everything from games, to instruments and even hats emerged! Projects and artist statements were installed at the Salmo Public Library through the month of April. Around other classrooms in the school, Earth Day celebrations included lessons, videos, crossword puzzles and projects. Primary students discovered that caring for our environment can be as easy as keeping the lights off for a little while during the day. To top it all off, Salmo students enjoyed time exploring our local environment. They could be seen playing in our playground and ambling about the forests and parks in our beautiful community.
